If I was the kind of person who could justify a budget for buying type-faces, I’d own this.

Electronics Courtesy of Make Magazine, this looks like it might be a great resource for a noob like me. I never got the opportunity to learn sciences or electronics at school so I’m working this stuff out as I go along, happily trying things until they work. Or don’t. But blimey, if there isn’t a lot to learn. I managed to get two piezos working on my guitar and tried it out...

Pumpkin seeds
I’ve been a big fan of pumpkin seeds since my brother introduced me to them when I was little. It transpires that there are only two rules to making your own. 1. Scoop out the visceral, stringy innards of the pumpkin with all the seeds in it and put the disgusting pumpkin guts on the top shelf of your airing cupboard. 2. Don’t let your wife find it. The effort of de-husking them is...

Also the brass bridge bar needs notching. I want to add a second disc piezo between the neck and the guitar but am...

idea: arduino central heating control
Instead of a normal thermostat attached to the heating/water controls, we have a digital thermostat that has a good level of programability and we just leave the heating set to on and use the digital thermostat to tell it when to fire. Only it’s bust. I don’t want to fork out £40+ for a new digital thermostat. How hard would it be to replace it with an arduino? It can sense heat and...
