Instead of a normal thermostat attached to the heating/water controls, we have a digital thermostat that has a good level of programability and we just leave the heating set to on and use the digital thermostat to tell it when to fire.
Only it’s bust.
I don’t want to fork out £40+ for a new digital thermostat. How hard would it be to replace it with an arduino? It can sense heat and have timings, which could be much more accurately controlled than our current system - especially as it’s broken. But it’s also extendable. Attach an RJ45 shield and I could tell it to come on via twitter, maybe I want a bath after work tonight and want the water to be hot enough…
Again, how hard could it be…
